Goodbye MSN, hello GAE/Bloggart
I'm shifting from my old blog on MSN spaces. I'm really sad that after 2 years MSN spaces didn't do anything much for the blog interface, except for a new preview option.
This blog is pretty cool - it's running off Google App Engine, and is more-or-less based on Nick Johnson's bloggart, with some features thrown in, such as
- archives,
- configurable deferring of tasks,
- improvements to syntax highlighting in Markdown.
(You can see it all in my fork.)
Bloggart already comes with caching via a very clever static content generator, plus Memcache on top, so it's a very powerful platform.
Oh, and did I mention you don't have to write a single HTML tag? Bloggart renders Markdown, RST, and whatever markup you care to use. (You can use plain HTML, though).
Take that, M$FT!
